Hi.

Welcome to CEOARJ! Nothing in here is perfect. It’s me sharing my experiences and hoping that you find something useful for your journey.

Not Just Another Day

Not Just Another Day

Today, started as usual with me not wanting to get out of bed because I’m not a morning person. Rushing and still showing up late to my first appointment because it was a chore to walk downstairs to my home office. Had an all staff meeting where my staff filled my cup with their stories of hope during a pretty dark time in our world. Served as a panelist for a virtual event hosted by the Holocaust Center for Humanity. Met with a state legislator to talk policy. Fed my kid at some point along the way. Then, launched a statewide, Black community development fund called the Black Future Co-op Fund. Then, launched a statewide, Black community development fund called the Black Future Co-op Fund. Then, launched a statewide, Black community development fund called the Black Future Co-op Fund. Then, launched a statewide, Black community development fund called the Black Future Co-op Fund. Stop blinking. It’s not a typo.

Today, is not just another day.

Today, is the day my ancestors dreamed of.

Today, is a promise of a sustainable future.

Today, is my three fierce friends and I being good ancestors.

Today, is the launch of a legacy.

Today, is a rich history.

Thank you to the three others who stood shoulder to shoulder with me: Michelle Merriweather (Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle), T’wina Nobles (Tacoma Urban League) and Andrea Caupain (Byrd Barr Place). The journey to build this is just beginning, but the shoulders we stand on provide solid ground.

Today, is not just another day.
